2013 SEASON AT TEXAS MOTORPLEX OPENS THIS WEEKEND
2013 SEASON AT TEXAS MOTORPLEX OPENS MARCH 2
Driver’s Meeting, Test-n-Tune and BBQ Cook-off Start ’13 Season
ENNIS, Texas (Feb. 13, 2013) – The mild winter and 68-degrees days that have been commonplace in North Texas has only created more anxious anticipation for racers throughout the state. No snow or ice on the ground means one thing: It’s time to go racing.
The 2013 season kicks off at Texas Motorplex in just two weeks with the March 2 Driver’s Meeting and Test-n-Tune.
Everyone expected to race or just interested in knowing about the 2013 bracket series and Fast Friday programs are welcome to the meeting. Test-n-tune, opened to the public, will start immediately following the meeting.
The driver’s meeting begins at 10 a.m., on March 2. Come for the meeting, but stay for the BBQ.
The Waxahachie Knights of Columbus will be hosting its annual BBQ Cook-Off charity event on Saturday as well. The 2013 Annual Knights of Columbus Council 8417 IBCA Sanctioned State Championship event will benefit the Council’s charities as well as Waxahachie Care and the Wounded Warrior program.
The cook-off will feature brisket, chicken, pork spare ribs, pulled pork, cobbler, beans, BBQ sauce, people’s choice and youth pork chop categories. There will be guaranteed payout, trophies and certificates. For more information on the cook-off, contact Dennis Williams at 214-399-0081.
Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.
