DRAG RACING MOVIE BASED ON NHRA LEGENDS SNAKE AND MONGOOSE OPENS IN NORTH TEXAS TONIGHT IN HURST AND MESQUITE
ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 27, 2013) – The true story of one of NHRA drag racing’s biggest rivalries hits the big screen in North Texas starting TONIGHT as SNAKE & MONGOOS$E opens at the North East Mall 18 theater in Hurst and the AMC Mesquite 30.
The Funny Car legends, Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom McEwen “Mongoose” revolutionized the sport of drag racing when they brought their high-octane form of competition into the boardrooms that made their cars and their sport household names. Their rivalry continues to be talked about as one of the fiercest in more than 60 years of NHRA drag racing.
The Snake earned 49 wins in Top Fuel and Funny Car competition in a career that spanned more than 30 years. Snake earned three wins at Texas Motorplex – two in Top Fuel (1991, 1994) and one in Funny Car (1989). McEwen never hoisted a winner’s trophy at the Motorplex.

Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.
