MEALS ON WHEELS DONATION EQUALS DISCOUNT FOR FUN FORD WEEKEND FANS AND MEALS FOR COMMUNITY SENIORS
ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 3, 2013) – Fun Ford Weekend fans can feel good about celebrating all things Ford this weekend during the Fun Ford Weekend festival at Texas Motorplex, all while helping to end senior hunger. When fans donate canned goods at the Meals on Wheels tables on site Saturday, they will receive $5 off adult admission –all for helping seniors in Johnson and Ellis Counties.
This is the third consecutive year Texas Motorplex has rewarded Fun Ford Weekend fans for caring so much to end senior hunger.
“We had an amazing turnout of fans bringing great canned goods for our first food drive to end senior hunger in 2011 and we were overwhelmed with the kindness of our fans and the increase in food donated in 2012,” Texas Motorplex General Manager Gabrielle Stevenson said. “We are just thrilled this effort keeps growing and it’s a true testament of how caring race fans and car show fans are, especially in North Texas.”
Fun Ford Weekend is a car show, drag race, swap meet and more. It is a celebration of all things Ford, spanning the generations of one of America’s most popular and historic automotive brands.
Meals on Wheels is more than happy to come out and meet Fun Ford Weekend fans and help collect food that will help seniors in the community.
“We are so excited about the opportunity to partner with Texas Motorplex again during the Fun Ford Weekend event,” Meals on Wheels Community Development Coordinator Lisa Deese, said. “We appreciate the opportunity to share Meals on Wheels with the racing community and work together on feeding our homebound neighbors in need throughout the region.”
Fun Ford Weekend will start quick with a Fast Friday street legal event. Gates open at 6 p.m. and racing will be held on the quickest and fastest track in North Texas from 7 p.m. to Midnight. All street legal racers with a valid license are welcome to race on the famous concrete quarter-mile.
Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday for Fun Ford Weekend. Racing and car show judging go on all day. Car show awards will be held at 3:30 p.m. For more information, go to www.texasmotorplex.com.
