NHRA driver Ron Capps escaped death after his car burst into flames during a race on Friday.

This morning on Fox and Friends, Capps said when looking back at the video, it’s hard to believe he escaped with a few minor scratches and bruises.

He was driving at 300 miles per hour when the engine exploded. Capps said he was wearing a protective fire suit at the time.

“You’re used to what you do for a living and the next thing you know, it’s a convertible and there’s a huge ball of flame right in my lap.”

The explosion won’t stop Capps from getting behind the wheel anytime soon. He said he feels safer racing cars than he does while driving his kids to school on the interstate.
