THE AAA TEXAS NHRA FALL NATIONALS AT TEXAS MOTORPLEX
Tickets for the playoff event are on sale NOW
ENNIS, Texas (March 2, 2017) – Oh, what a year 1986 turned out to be in American history.
The movie, Top Gun was released and was the highest grossing film of the year. The average home mortgage was just $89,000. The first musicians ever to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Halle of Fame included Chuck Berry, James Brown, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Fats Domino, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley.
And wouldn’t you know it, Texas Motorplex opened its gates and became the first super-stadium in drag racing history.
The events at the Motorplex have varied considerably throughout the years and have included motorcycle rallies, concerts, drag racing just about every vehicle known to man as well as fireworks shows, car shows and tons of other entertaining shows. The one thing that has remained a consistent since those “popped-collar-polo-shirt” days has been the NHRA national event.
The AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals will be at the Motorplex Oct. 12-15 with the quickest and fastest form of racing anywhere. You never know what the jaw-dropping moment will be, but you just know there will be at least one “can’t miss” moment in the NHRA playoff weekend.
Tickets are now on sale for this historic event and now you can pick out the seats where you can witness the fire-breathing dragons of drag racing as they pump out 10,000 horsepower at more than 320 mph.
It is the fourth of six Countdown championship playoff events. Title hopes are on the line, champions are made and the action is as hot as Top Fuelers, Funny Car and hundreds of other racers thunder down the drag strip.
Advance tickets for adults range from $11-$382. Youth tickets (12 years old and under) range from $3-$31. Call (800) MOTORPLEX for more information.
Winning at the Motorplex started with legends as Don “Big Daddy” Garlits (TF), Kenny Bernstein (FC), Bob Glidden (PS) ushered in the new era of Motorplex racing in 1986. That tradition continues as the new generation of champions will defend their 2011 titles when the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals come back for the annual visit. Vandergriff (TF), Cruz Pedregon (FC), Jason Line (PS), Michael Phillips (PSM) earned 2011 victories.

Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.
