TEXAS MOTORPLEX TO OPEN GATES EARLY FOR REMAINING FAST FRIDAY EVENTS IN 2017
Run Cards Provided to Help Ensure Racers get a Minimum of Two Passes; Pro Tree Only
ENNIS, Texas (May 9, 2017) – In an attempt to ensure more racers get more time on the track during the popular Fast Friday street legal events at Texas Motorplex, the gates will now open at 5 p.m. for a 6 p.m. race start. The tree will run a pro tree setting all night as well, eliminating the time it takes to make dozens of changes throughout the event.
Now you can truly find out who is fast behind the wheel, you or your friends?
You can finally answer the question: How fast DOES your car go?
And you can answer those questions without those pesky red and blue law enforcement lights shining through your rearview mirrors. Fast Friday lets you fulfill your need for speed without the danger and expense of breaking the law.
Racing will now be between 6 p.m. and midnight. Racers get in for $20 and spectators get in for just $15. Racers will get two passes each before lanes are open for additional passes. Racers will receive a wrist band and run card in tech. Each time the racers makes a pass, he or she will be given a hole punch. Once two passes are made, the racer must wait until the remaining racers have all made two passes before going in for additional runs.
“Fast Fridays are some of the best events we put on each season because people can come out and test their vehicles or just have a fun night out,” Texas Motorplex Competition Director, Wes Tarkington, said. “It’s a growing series and our team wants to allow veterans and rookies to race together safely.”
Street legal racing at the Motorplex is the safest form of racing and definitely a better alternative to illegally racing on the streets. Anyone with a valid driver’s license and street legal vehicle can race their own cars down the famous Texas Motorplex drag strip.
The next Fast Friday event will be May 12. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and racing will be open from 6 p.m. – Midnight.
Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.
