FAST FRIDAY RACE TIP: Performing a burnout is half the fun of racing at #TexasMotorplex but if this is your first time or you are still new to competing with a street-driven vehicle, here’s a few things to remember… First, our track crew keeps a light coating of water on the concrete surface in the burnout area to allow your drive tires to slip enough to perform a proper tire heating and cleaning process. Second, since street tires are designed to bead and channel water away it is perfectly acceptable to drive through the wet area with your front tires. The practice of driving around and then backing into the water is not necessary. Third, street tires are a hard compound when compared to purpose-built drag racing tires. Long, smoky burnouts – while fun – are not required to build the right amount of heat and traction in your street tires. Any questions, ask us at the track or email our Competition Director at firstname.lastname@example.org
