2013 LOOKS TO BE BANNER YEAR FOR EVENT DIVERSITY AT HISTORIC FACILITY

ENNIS, Texas (March 1, 2013) – Each season at Texas Motorplex ushers in new events, the best race in North Texas and a host of challenges for the most competitive racer at every level.

The schedule of events is packed with fan favorite events that start in early March and roll all the way through November. There are the historically jaw-dropping events like the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, Sept. 19-22 featuring the stars of the quickest and fastest motorsport on the planet.

There are also car shows and racing for lovers of specific makes and models, including: April’s Mega Mopar Action Series’ Mopars at the Motorplex, the Super Chevy Show in May and the Fun Ford Weekend in September. Each of those manufacturer events feature car shows, drag racing, vendor area, specialty foods and more.

New in 2013 is an increase in non-racing events at the Motorplex. On Sunday, May 5 the Motorplex will play host to its first Cinco de Mayo festival. There will be five music acts all day long including Bobby Pulido and perhaps the most important Tejano band ever, Intocable.

“Every year we look at how we can expand our audience and this year the Cinco de Mayo festival is going to be a major event for us,” said Texas Motorplex owner, Billy Meyer. “We have a unique facility that is easily accessible to large crowds and we are always looking to see how we can change the entertainment scene in North Texas while keeping loyal with our strong passion for racing.”

Racing, racing and more racing. The 2013 schedule features more racing than ever with an expanded bracket racing program as well as more than 20 Fast Friday events. Fast Friday events are the best street legal events in Texas, allowing anyone with a driver’s license and a street legal vehicle to race down the historic Motorplex surface for just $15.

But if Friday night isn’t enough, there will also be Ultimate Street Night events on select Saturday nights, starting May 18. The Ultimate nights have street legal racing with the added heat of 275 cars and later start times.

“Street racing is an incredibly important topic for us because the more people we have racing at our track, we hope the fewer are racing in the streets illegally,” said Texas Motorplex General Manager, Gabrielle Stevenson. “Racing at the track is a much safer and controlled environment with the added incentive of competing against other racers. Our Competition Director, Eric McClelland, is doing an outstanding job of working with car clubs and racers to ensure we are open with more events in 2013.”

As if the best in professional NHRA racing and street legal nights weren’t enough to go with the Cinco de Mayo festival and car shows, there are plenty more options for every racer and race fan. Once again there will be two NHRDA events in 2013: The NHRDA Texas Diesel Nationals in the spring and the NHRDA World Finals in the fall.

The Import Face Off event will be held in the spring and fall again as well, showcasing the best import vehicles and motorcycles of all kind in show car and racing events.

For the second consecutive year, the Motorplex and NHRA are teaming up to make the Division 4 NHRA Lucas Oil event even bigger. Saturday night will feature the Texas Motorplex Old School Showdown with nostalgia racing, jet vehicles and much more.

Just when the racing season starts winding down in November, the Motorplex will be getting ready to be muddy. Really, really muddy.

Rugged Maniac will be hosting one of the premier 5k extreme obstacle courses at the Motorplex for a Nov. 9 event. Registration can be done at www.ruggedmaniac.com for those willing to climb walls, overcome obstacles and listening to great live music while getting muddy.

All the information for those events, and plenty more, can be found at the website or by calling the Motorplex offices at (972) 878-2641.

Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.

“We create music because we believe in its power to transcend boundaries—of genres, of borders, of
languages. We give our music and our fans everything we have and everything we are.” – INTOCABLE

2013-01-31-CDMTSGroup Members:
Ricardo Javier “Ricky” Muñoz – (Lead Vocalist, Accordion)
René Orlando Martínez – (Drums, Chorus)
Sergio Serna – (Percussion)
Johnny Lee Rosas – (Sixth Bass, Backup Vocalist)
Félix Salinas – (Bass, Chorus)
José Juan Hernández – (Group Motivator and Rhythms)

INTOCABLE is one of the most influential groups in the Tejano/Norteño music scene today. Their road to success began eighteen years ago (nineteen in August) in Zapata, Texas, when friends Ricky Muñoz and René Martínez dreamed of bringing their songs to the world as they crafted a unique and extraordinary style of music which expertly fuses Tejano conjunto music, Norteño folk rhythms and pop ballads.

After years of dedication and passion, the dream is an indisputable reality. With #1 hits such as “Rabarte un Beso” and “Prometí,” as well as other fan favorites like “Dame Un Besito,” “Eres Mi Droga,” Enséñame a Olvidarte,” “Sueña,” “Contra Viento y Marea,” “Llueve,” “Arrepiéntete,” and many more, INTOCABLE continues to entertain and delight audiences in both the United States and Mexico. Their songs are heard in radio stations throughout the American Continent and the band has played live in world renowned venues such as the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, the Monterrey Arena in Mexico, and the Reliant Astrodome Stadium in Houston, with a historical record of more than 70,000 fans singing along and enjoying one of the best shows in the industry. And to top off an already exceptional career, INTOCABLE made history by being the first and so far only act of their genre to sing the halftime show at the Cowboys vs. Redskins game at the famed Dallas Cowboy Stadium.

Today, the group INTOCABLE is the standard bearer of “la música norteña.” Its achievements have been recognized with two GRAMMY Awards (in 2005 for their album Intimamente and in 2011 for the album Classic), seven Latin GRAMMY and multiple nominations, thirteen Premios Lo Nuestro, numerous Latin Billboards and two Billboard Regional Mexican Awards, as well as many other nominations, including one from the American Music Awards. Not only these but in 2010 Billboard Magazine named them “Group of the Decade” and were honored by Billboard with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

Always striving towards creating music that is relevant and transcends the boundaries of genre, national borders and even languages, INTOCABLE returned to the studio to produce their 15th career album. En Peligro de Extinción brings together all the best of INTOCABLE: the stirring lyrics, the captivating melodies and rhythms, the expert arrangements and the excellence and precision of a group of musicians at the top of their art form.

Although the band produced INTOCABLE 2011 under their own label, Good I Music, this time they decided to join forces with Universal Music Group for En Peligro de Extinción in their aim to expand their reach to the Central American and South American markets, since Universal has the distribution infrastructure required for this goal. In this album, INTOCABLE lends its characteristically rhythmic voice to the words of renowned songwriters Ikerlan, José Zamora, Josué Contreras and Miguel Mendoza, with whom they’ve co-written in past albums. Ikerlan wrote their single “Te Amo Para Siempre” which debuted to a sold out crowd in the Monterrey Arena on November 30th and December 1st of 2012.

“Nos Faltó Hablar,” a power ballad reminiscent of the 1980s rock power ballads, was written by the famous Mexican singer-songwriter, Reyli Barba.

Year after year, INTOCABLE demonstrates their passion for music and their desire to share their creations with a loyal public that keeps growing with every word and every note.
