ENNIS, Texas (Feb. 25, 2014) – One of the most popular events of each Texas Motorplex season is the Import Face-Off event. It’s not just a car show. It’s not just a race. It’s a complete package of events for Import cars, trucks, motorcycles and the fans who love to be entertained.

Import Face-Off will take over Texas Motorplex on Sunday, March 2 and is open to all imported automotive brands for racing and car show, but there will be a test-n-tune open for all makes and models throughout the day as well, ensuring everyone can play.

Racing and the car show are just two of many events going on during the one-day Import showcase. The Sound Off contest will award Usaci double points for the Stereo Crank It Up contest. Low riders, trucks and sport bikes have their own events and there will be vendors, a midway, live DJ, a burnout contest (time permitting) and much more.

Gates will open at 9 a.m. with racer and car show registration open at 9 a.m. until noon. Car show judging starts at 11 a.m. Heads up qualifying will be at 11 a.m. and noon. Final eliminations start at 1 p.m. and awards ceremony will start at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets and registration will be available at the gate the day of the event. Class and event information is available on www.importfaceoff.net along with the flyer that will serve as a $3 discount on spectator admission.

Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.

ENNIS, Texas (Feb. 24, 2014) – BBQ and Bracket Racing…. FOR FREE! Can you think of anything better?

The Knights of Columbus Council 8417 of Waxahachie will host its fourth annual State Championship BBQ Cook-off on Feb. 28 – March 1 at the Texas Motorplex. The event is sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA).

The big show is Saturday, March 1. Champions will be crowned for several BBQ just before points and cash is handed out to the race winners in the third of 12 Texas Motorplex Bracket Racing events.

Fans can see all the action, for free. Spectator admission for bracket racing is normally $10. Motorplex officials are hoping that money will be donated to Wounded Warriors and the other local charities that benefit from the BBQ Cook-Off.

“We have decided to open the gates and not charge an admission fee for race fans because we want everyone to go to Champion’s Club to bid on auction items, donate their entry fees to Wounded Warriors and the other organizations being helped by the amazing efforts of the Waxahachie council of the Knights of Columbus,” Texas Motorplex GM, Gabrielle Stevenson, said. “This is a very dedicated organization that specifically helps people in our area. We are proud to be able to add racing to a full day of competitive BBQ.”

Teams are invited to register for the cook-off between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. The cook-off will follow IBCA rules, which will be provided to each team at registration. These rules can also be found at the IBCA website at http://www.ibcabbq.org.

The event is in its fourth year, but is already expanding. There will be more categories in 2014, and a full day of racing will be going on in conjunction with the BBQ Cook-off. Fans can be delighted with the smells and tastes of the region’s best BBQ as they watch the region’s top racers battle for more than $6,000 in cash prizes for the one-day event.

A fish fry is open to the public and starts Friday night with live music in Champion’s Club. Racing starts at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
