In his role as a fast driver, Don Omar will participate with his new automobile “Mr. President”, who will try to break his own world record of more than 204 miles.  The multi-awarded artist will challenge all participants in his category Pro-Imports . ENNIS, Texas (May 22, 2013) – Fans and racers coming to Texas Motorplex this weekend for Fast Friday and the Don Omar DragMania race and concert should do everything possible to avoid going through downtown Ennis.

Traffic will be unusually heavy this weekend due to road closures because of tornado damage as well as street closures and traffic for the Polka Festival.

All racers, fans and concert goers are asked to find an alternate route to the Motorplex.

Gates open at 6 p.m. for Fast Friday racing. Racers pay just $15 for tech cards that gives them full access to the famous concrete quarter-mile from 7 p.m. until Midnight.

Saturday’s racing starts at 1 p.m. and finishes just before Plan B takes the stage to perform for the first time at Texas Motorplex.

Lawn chairs and blankets are allowed this weekend, but coolers and glass bottles will not be permitted inside the facility.

Sunday’s racing action starts at 11 a.m. with the first round of eliminations and car show judging. The awards ceremony and car show awards will take place at 6:30 p.m. and the DragMania concert featuring Don Omar, Natti Natasha, Zion & Lennox, RAKIM & KEN Y, and LOBO starts at 7 p.m.

Wynnewood, Okla. (May 21, 2013) – When a massive tornado recently tore through Oklahoma and left a trail of devastation in its wake, the tragedy hit close to home for Richard Freeman and the Elite Motorsports LLC/Elite Performance employees: Their Wynnewood, Okla., headquarters are just an hour away from the heart of the destruction that occurred in Moore.

The Elite group – along with fellow NHRA competitors and friends Mark Stockseth, Rickie Jones, and his father Rick Jones of RJ Racecars – have joined forces to offer support for the victims of this terrible tragedy, and they hope to encourage members of the NHRA community to offer support as well through donations made to the American Red Cross.

“We are just heartsick,” said Freeman, whose Elite Performance builds engines currently campaigned in the Pro Stock category. “Many families have lost their homes, and the death toll is rising.

“We have so many friends who have been affected by this, and the magnitude of the situation just makes you feel so helpless. There is little you can do or say to bring comfort at a time like this, but we felt a duty to step up and help in any way that we could. We believe that donating to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund was the most effective way to help our friends who are suffering, and we encourage the folks in our NHRA community to do the same.

“The NHRA family is pretty big, and the great people we work with day in and day out at the racetrack and on the Mello Yello Series tour have a lot of compassion. I know that there are a lot of folks out there who want to help, but they just don’t know how. This is one way that we can come together to make a difference.”

The gate and racing times will be later. The racing will be quicker and faster. The action will be even more heated.

Gates for the Ultimate Street Nights, starting on Saturday, May 18, will open at 7 p.m. and racing will take place between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Certain nights, including the series opener, will also feature the Texas 275 cars.

“The 275 cars will be out a few times and they really put on a show,” Texas Motorplex Competition Director, Eric McClelland, said. “The 275 cars run 1/8th mile in 4.70-seconds and they are exciting to watch. Some of them are even street legal cars.

“Overall we’re excited about the new Saturday night program because it’s easier for people who work to come out. It’s a fun night to stay out late and race and we’re going to have a show-and-shine area in addition to racing so people can show off their rides.”

Ultimate Street Nights will be just $15 to race, and $10 to watch. Racing is open to anyone with a valid driver’s license and a street legal car.

The six-event series will also help determine the high school participants representing Texas Motorplex at the Oct. 18-21 Summit E.T. Finals. The top high school talent will earn a place on the Motorplex team and will compete for big prizes on the region’s biggest racing stage.

Trackside Motorhome Spaces are Available

Texas Motorplex has space openings on both the pit side and the spectator side Motorhome Corrals for the 28^th annual AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, September 19-22, 2013.

Spectator side motorhome spaces are $1,000 for the weekend, include water, waste, and electrical hookups on 15 ft wide by 30 ft long concrete spaces at the end of the spectator grandstands.   The spectator side motorhome corral spaces do not include tickets as part of the space, you will need to purchase tickets for everyone staying in the motorhome for each day of the event.

Pit side motorhome spaces are located between the pit side food court and the Finish Line Grandstands, they are 25 Ft wide and include 4 Full Event tickets to the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, all for just $1,500.  The pit side motorhome spaces do not include any hook ups so the motorhomes must be self contained.   We will have a service company that will make rounds throughout the weekend when that can deliver water and pump waste for a small fee.

Parking for one support vehicle and one motorhome is included with the space.  Parking is extremely limited and any additional vehicles will need to park in the main spectator parking lot and enter through the spectator gate.

Spaces are very limited and available only by reservation.

We will complete the previously rescheduled event that started on March 23 before going into a full bracket event as soon as the morning session is wrapped up.

Gates for Saturday will open at 9:00 am. If you are still in eliminations from the March 23 event, you will get your tech card from that event at Gate 10 as you enter. You will need to bring that tech card to tech. Time Trials will begin at 10:00 a.m. and we will run two time trials per class and then go directly into eliminations.

As soon as the March 23 race is complete we will stop for approximately 15 minutes to allow the track crew to check the track and make sure everything is in perfect condition for the second race and then we will start the second race. We will do two time trials per class and go straight into eliminations.

As you can imagine Saturday will be a busy day and there will be a lot of cars going down the track, we will allow 15 minutes cool down after the last car of each class. Once we get in semi’s and finals we need the drivers to come back to the lanes as soon as they safely can to make sure we run a quick and safe race.
