GLENDORA, Calif. (Jan. 30, 2012) – NHRA officials announced today that Summit Racing Equipment has expanded its involvement with NHRA and will become the title sponsor of the Summit Racing NHRA King of the Track program.

The Summit Racing NHRA King of the Track is a special event that is offered to all NHRA Member Tracks across the country, Canada and Puerto Rico, as a special event for their bracket racers and their bracket racing programs. Each track will have the option to host one Summit Racing King of the Track event each year.  The event will feature a run-off between individual class winners with the coveted NHRA Wally trophy being awarded to the Summit Racing King of the Track winner at each NHRA member track.

“The NHRA King of the Track program is a great opportunity to support bracket racers and tracks across the country in addition to our Summit Racing Series,” said Jim Greenleaf, Summit Racing’s Motorsports and Events manager. “The program allows the tracks to put together an exciting weekend of racing as racers compete for the title ‘King of the Track.’”

The program is just one of several specialty race programs offered to NHRA Member Tracks that also include the National DRAGSTER Challenge and the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge.

The sponsorship extends Summit’s current involvement in NHRA where the company is the title sponsor of the NHRA Summit Racing Series, which culminates in the crowning of Summit Racing Series National Champions.  Summit is also the title sponsor of NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events in Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Norwalk, Ohio. Summit also is the primary team sponsor for the Ken Black Racing Pro Stock team, featuring drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line.

ENNIS, Texas, (Jan. 24, 2012) – The Texas Motorplex has partnered with the American Veterans Traveling Tribute to bring the Cost of Freedom Tribute to the Super Chevy Show on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12, 2012 to benefit the proposed Ennis Veteran’s Memorial, located a few miles from the track.

In honor of all American Heroes, the Tribute will be escorted from downtown Dallas to the track on Thursday, May 10 with a special event to greet the tribute. Details to be announced soon.

By traveling across the USA, the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) provides a forum for members of each community to gather and Honor-Respect-Remember those who have protected and defended the United States and its freedom, with the Cost of Freedom Tribute.

“The Wall honors veterans and those killed in the line of duty in the most respectful and dramatic way,” said Gabrielle Stevenson, President of Texas Motorplex. “We feel honored they have made arrangements in the schedule to bring that wall to North Texas. Our fans are absolutely some of the most loyal and patriotic people in Texas and I think this is going to be one of the highlights of our 2012 season.

“It means a lot to our staff that we can pay tribute to those who defend our freedom and combine it with the Super Chevy Show.”

The Cost of Freedom Tribute includes statistics from each major U.S. conflict and 9/11 attacks, a 380-foot-long and eight-foot-high Vietnam Memorial with 51,000 inscribed names, a gold dog tag display, a tribute to law enforcement and firefighters as well as historical documents, for visitors to reflect on.

Larry Fincher, Ennis Veterans Memorial Committee Chair is pleased with the Tribute’s special appearance and benefit to the community and Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Jan. 12, 2012 – Texas Motorplex will officially launch the inaugural event in the Mega Mopar Action Series on Saturday, May 19.  The new series, operated by the same group of national event tracks that manage the Super Chevy Show and Fun Ford Weekend series events, will feature the popular format of drag racing, car show, and swap meet attractions for fans of Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth vehicles.

The series will host four events during the 2012 season beginning in Dallas, then moving to Denver at Bandimere Speedway (Sunday, June 3), followed by a stop one week later at Maple Grove Raceway just outside Reading, PA (Saturday and Sunday, June 9-10), and completing the 2012 tour at Virginia Motorsports Park in late September (Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23).

The series is planned to double or triple the number of events in 2013, potentially equaling the number of Super Chevy Shows and Fun Ford Weekend events, each currently hosting a 12-event national tour.

The popular Mopar Action magazine plays a role in the series, by providing its readers insight to upcoming attractions at the events, as well as providing post-event results for the drag racing and car show classes, as well as capturing images of the Mopar experience.

“We had the opportunity to work with Lex Dudas at Maple Grove Raceway in 2011 to put on a Mopar Action branded event, which was a great success,” said Mopar Action’s Advertising Director, Brett Underwood. “The opportunity to work with more of the national caliber tracks to operate a series tied to the publication is very exciting for our readers and advertisers.”

All of the tracks hosting Mega Mopar Action series events have had successful Mopar shows in the past, and can now combine their expertise into a national format.

The Motorplex, which has hosted “Mopars at the Motorplex” for more than 15 years, will kick-off to the 2012 Mega Mopar Action Series this spring.

OFALLON, MO (January 5, 2012) In its first foray into the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) in 2011, Penske Racing Shocks were a major contributor for championship competitors in several categories.

Now, Penske Racing Shocks will be a sponsor for the first time in the ADRL in 2012.

The worlds premier eighth-mile drag racing league announced the sponsorship on Thursday, forging an already strong partnership with one of the industry leaders.

After seeing the car count at each race, the large fanbase and how the ADRL and each event is ran, we definitely wanted to be part of the 2012 season. Theres a tremendous amount of potential in the ADRL, Penske Racing Shocks Drag Department Marketing Manager Adam Lambert said.

The ADRL is constantly evolving, getting faster and improving and thats exciting to see. Theres so many new things going on and we want to give back to the racers and say thanks to all the teams that run and support our product.

Based out of Reading, Pa., Penske Racing Shocks (PRS) have only been involved in drag racing for the past three years.

But with quality products and customer service, PRS has quickly become a top choice for a number of competitors in the ADRL, presenting user-friendly shocks that helped in a number of areas, including 60-foot times, reduced tire shake and increased launch control.

PRS will also have a greater presence at each event on the 2012 ADRL, which starts on March 30-31 at Royal Purple Raceway in Houston and includes 10 national events.

It is great to have companies like Penske Racing Shocks come on board for the first time. Not only is it the start of a new partnership, it shows that the ADRL is continuing to grow and bring new companies into the fold, ADRL Executive Vice President Jeff Fortune said.

Penske Racing Shocks have proven to be a top-notch product in a short time and were thrilled to have them as an official sponsor for the 2012 season.

With the Northeast Drags II (May 5-6) to take place at historic Maple Grove Raceway for the second time in 2012, PRS will also enjoy a race less than 15 minutes from its Reading shop.
