ENNIS, Texas (March 27, 2019) – The Texas Motorplex, home to the AAA Texas NHRA Fallnationals in October, will give fans in North Texas a sneak peek at the next Steve Torrences, Brittany Forces and Erica Enders, world champions on the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, when the NHRA South Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Double-Header, the Keurig Dr Pepper Lone Star Nationals, takes place, April 4-7. In addition to the on-track action which heats up on Friday the Motorplex will also be featuring the Jambo Bar-B-Que Shootout with a purse of over $10,000 on Saturday.

“The Keurig Dr Pepper Lone Star Nationals will highlight some of the up and coming racers from Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana as well as regional racers from across the country,” said Andy Carter, Texas Motorplex General Manager. “These are the future stars of the NHRA. In addition to the racing action we’ll have national champion Jambo, Jamie Geer, hosting a BBQ contest with a $10,000 guaranteed purse.”

Throughout the weekend the pits will be open for race fans and families to enjoy vendor booths including B3 Against Bullying with their Mega Trucks and positive message to stop bullying at every level. The pits will also be full of some of the most amazing show cars in North Texas during the S&H Car Show Classic

“Fans can get a free ticket from our Facebook page or our website that they can print out or show us on their phone. You won’t get a better show than the race cars, car show and BBQ this weekend at the Texas Motorplex,” added Carter. .

Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car run a single event with qualify on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. All three rounds of Eliminations are set for Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m.

Drivers are earning points leading to divisional, regional and national championships, as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.

Gates at Texas Motorplex open at 7 a.m. every day. The first race on the double-header starts with qualifying and time trials Thursday at 8 a.m. Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Comp Eliminator qualify at 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eliminations begin Thursday afternoon and continue Friday at 8 a.m.

The second race in the double-header starts on Saturday with qualifying and time trials at 8 a.m. Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Comp Eliminator qualifying at 1:15 and 5 p.m.  Eliminations begin Saturday evening and continue at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

Without the complimentary ticket fans can enjoy the racing for $25 per day or $100 for the full event. Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult.
