GATE POLICIES

Approved Carry-in Items

Fans may enter Texas Motorplex with the following items:

  • Binoculars, scanners, headsets, personal cameras and seat cushions are allowed.
  • Seat cushion bags with compartments may be inspected on an individual basis.
  • Strollers will be permitted into the Pit Areas, Food Court and the Manufacturer Midway, but will not be allowed into the grandstand seating areas. Texas Motorplex will not assume any responsibility for strollers left unattended.
  • Flags are acceptable, provided they are not attached to poles and they do not obstruct other fans’ viewing of racing activities. No flag poles of any type will be allowed. Small nationality flags attached to a pencil sized diameter wooden stick will be allowed.
  • All bags, purses, backpacks and items brought through the Main Spectator gate will be subject to inspection.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

The following items may not enter the admission gates:

  • Firearms, weapons of any kind, fireworks, and items restricted by Local, State or Federal laws.
  • Any outside food, drink or alcohol will not be allowed in the facility
  • Coolers, thermoses, freezer/ice packets and cups of any size.
  • Umbrellas, wagons, inline skates, skateboards, bicycles, scooters (motorized and/or manual), etc
  • Glass, aluminum and metal containers.
  • Pets (excluding properly identified ADA escorts).

None of the above restricted items may be left in or around the gate area. Please return items to your vehicle. Any items left at the gates will be discarded. Texas Motorplex reserves the right to refuse entry of any item deemed inappropriate.

CAMPGROUND RULES

  1. The following camping methods have been approved for the use in the campground: Motor coaches,
    motor homes, travel trailers, pick-ups with camper tops, pop-up trailers, tents, cars, trucks and buses.
  2. NO GLASS CONTAINERS are allowed in the campground.
  3. Open fires are not allowed. Please contain all cooking fires to grills, smokers or bar-b-cue pits. Open
    fires will not be tolerated at any time.
  4. No fireworks within city limits as stated by ENNIS CITY ORDINANCE #80-11-5 AND #86-6-5.
  5. No handguns permitted.
    a. “Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with a concealed
    handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code
    (concealed handgun law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun.”
    b. “Pursuant to Section 30.07, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with an openly carried
    handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code
    (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a handgun that is carried
    openly.”
  6. Please do not dump your waste water on the ground. We have contracted a sanitation company to come
    through the park each evening to collect your waste water. They will be in the area each day.
  7. We have provided trash bags for your convenience. When they become full, place them along one of
    the roadways for collection. We will give you a fresh bag upon your request. You may pick them up at
    the registration tent at the entrance of the campground. Please dispose of your trash properly. Let’s keep
    the park clean for everyone.
  8. Please observe the NO PARKING areas designated by the flags and lines. These areas are not to be
    occupied by any type of vehicle not authorized by the Campground Coordinator. If you are unsure,
    please ask a staff member for assistance. These areas are for staff access, special events and equipment.
    Parking in these areas may cause you and your motor home to be removed from the facility.
  9. There is a water station on the northwest side of the park. There is no charge for water. Please use the
    station to fill your tanks, but do not hook up to them permanently. The water station is for fill up only.
  10. You are allowed one (1) additional support vehicle to stay with you during the event. The support
    vehicle can be a car or motorcycle but it cannot be a camping vehicle.
  11. ATV’s, UTV’s, 4 Wheelers, 3 Wheelers, Golf Carts or any other motorized vehicle, other than cars or
    trucks, ARE NOT ALLOWED to leave the campground through the main entrance or the spectator
    walk-through entrance. Motorcycles, bicycles or any other vehicles ARE NOT ALLOWED to be
    taken into the pit area.
  12. Please do not plug into the light tower generators. These are in place for security only.
  13. Bags of ICE will be sold at the entrance gate.–40 lb. bag for $12.00
  14. Please respect your neighbors and your area. HAVE FUN!!!!

BASIC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR RACERS

These are basic safety rules to be able to race at the Texas Motorplex. For detailed information regarding NHRA categories and rules obtain an official NHRA Rule Book www.NHRA.com. For more information about Texas Motorplex regulations contact the Texas Motorplex office at 972-878-2641.

Elapsed time requirements are for quarter mile times. Some may include eighth mile equivalent times in parentheses. Rules are subject to change.

  • A valid state driver’s license is required for all drivers.
  • All drivers are required to wear long pants, a shirt with sleeves (no tank tops) , and closed toe shoes (no sandals).
  • All vehicles are required to have at least one functional taillight.
  • Only the driver is allowed to go down the track. No passengers or animals allowed.
  • Drivers in cars running 13.99 (8.59) seconds or quicker, and all dune buggy type vehicles runnning 14.00 (8.60) and slower are required to wear a helmet meeting SNELL 95 or SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, or 41.2 Specs
  • Drivers running 10.00 (6.40) to 11.49 (7.35) must wear a jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.3/1.
  • Drivers running 9.99 (6.39) to 7.50 (4.50) or any vehicle exceeding 135 mph are required to wear a jacket and pants meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/5 and gloves meeting SFI Spec 3.3/1.
  • A valid NHRA Competition license is required for any vehicle running 9.99 (6.39) or quicker.
  • All motorcycle riders are required to wear a full face helmet meeting above Specs, leather jacket, leather boots/shoes above the ankle, and leather gloves. Full all leathers or SFI Spec 40.1/2 suit is mandatory on all motorcycles running 120 mph or faster.
  • A seat belt is mandatory in all cars. A three inch driver restraint system meeting SFI Spec 16.1 is mandatory in all cars running 11.49 (7.35) or quicker, and in convertibles running 13.49 (8.25) or quicker and all dune buggy type vehicles.
  • A roll bar is required on all cars running 11.00 (7.00) to 11.49 (7.35) and in convertibles running 11.00 to 13.49 and in all dune buggy type vehicles running 12.00 and slower. See the NHRA Rule Book for more detailed information.
  • A roll cage is mandatory in all cars running 10.99 (6.99) and quicker or any car exceeding 135 mph. See NHRA Rule Book for more information.
  • A driveshaft loop is required on all cars running 13.99 (8.59) seconds and quicker, except vehicles running 13.00 and slower equipped with street tires.
  • As of March 20,2009 SFI, Inc. has issued a Notice of Decertification to Impact Racing Products, Inc. regarding Driver suits, pants and jackets manufactured in 2008 identified as compliant with SFI Specification 3.2A/15 or 3.2A/20. Also, Driver shoes and boots manufactured in 2008 identified as compliant with SFI Specification 3.3/15 or 3.3/20. SFI has informed NHRA that products manufactured in 2007 and 2009 are being further evaluated by SFI. (as of 3/20/2009).
